A football team at a housing scheme for homeless people has a new season’s strip – after winning a £500 grant to get kitted out.
The Buxton Road team in the Heavily area of Stockport regularly takes part in football coaching and other activities with Street Soccer, a charity supporting people with complex needs through the medium of football.
The grant from Life Leisure’s David Hopkins Foundation was awarded to H3 Helping the Homeless charity after their successful submission to the Foundation.
Vicky Jepson, H3 Committee Member said: “As a new member of H3 I am really grateful to the David Hopkins Foundation for their support with our bid for funding. These kits will go a long way towards helping the lads to get involved with playing and enjoying football.”
Jemal Mohamed said: “It was fantastic for me. This was the first football kit I have ever worn. Thank you to H3. The session encouraged me to run and ignited a passion in me.”
